Post-season honors for five GHV Cardinal players

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura baseball team landed five players on 2019 Top of Iowa All-Conference teams.  Landon Dalbeck was named to the First Team, while Jack Ermer received Second Team recognition.  Dalton Graff and Jared Shaw were both named to the Third Team and Rafe Van Dusseldorp received Honorable Mention recognition.

Letter of intent with hotel developer finalized

Clear Lake City leaders gave their unanimous approval Monday night to a letter of intent for a potential development agreement supporting a hotel and conference center project in the new Courtway Park subdivision.

City Administrator Scott Flory discussed progress on the proposed development just east of Interstate 35 on the north side of Highway 122.  Flory likened the deal to the path the City took in preparation for McKesson locating in Clear Lake.

Cars galore

It was a beautiful weekend for the 34th Annual C.L.A.S.S. Car Show and Cruise.  Car enthusiasts took over the town both Friday night and Saturday.  There were 808 cars that registered to take part in the cruise on Friday night, much to the delight of thousands who watched the gleaming cars cruise by.  Saturday’s show drew 552 cars that filled the downtown area. -Reporter photos by Chris Barragy

Waukee man’s death on Clear Lake under investigation

A Waukee, Iowa man was pronounced dead Saturday after experiencing a medical emergency while boating on Clear Lake.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources reports that at about 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 3, 28-year-old Daniel Linderman was tubing behind a boat being operated by Timothy Heitland, of Buffalo Center, when he fell off the tube into the water.
