Merfeld receives All-State honors

Julia Merfeld, member of the Clear Lake Lions varsity softball team, has received All-State honors.

Merfeld, a junior, has been named to the Iowa Girls Coaches Association’s Class 3A All-State Team. Merfeld was selected as a member of the Class 3A Second Team.

John Verne Eason, 93, of Ankeny, and formerly of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, at Sunnyview Care Center, in Ankeny.

Having chosen cremation, a private graveside inurnment will be scheduled later for family and friends at Greenfield Cemetery in Greenfield.

Adorine E. Voellinger, 84, of Clear Lake, passed away Aug. 7, 2019, at home surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Aug. 12, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. John Gossman and Msgr. John Hemann concelebrating.  Inurnment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery at a later date.

  Memorials may be given to Catholic Charities and MercyOne North Iowa Hospice.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 4th St., Clear Lake.  Inurnment will be held at Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, following the service.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.

Carol Lenore (Frenz) Meier, 89, died on Aug. 10, 2019, at Faith Lutheran Home, in Osage.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on  Monday, Aug. 19, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N 4th St, Clear Lake.

Family will be greeting guests one hour prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Church.
