Car strikes cyclist, drags rider 150-feet

A Clear Lake man was rushed to the hospital after he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle and drug more than 150-feet before the vehicle came to a stop.

Fire consumes hog facility at Ventura

Clear Lake, Ventura and Garner Fire Departments and emergency medical workers responded to a fire at a large hog confinement building at 3:17 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2.

The building, located at 7442 Balsam Ave., Ventura, contained approximately 250 female hogs and 2,500 piglets.  The facility is owned by Luscombe Enterprises, operated by Brent and Michelle Luscombe.

The building and hogs were a total loss.  There was no one injured.

CL X-C teams face tough competition at Humboldt

The Clear Lake boys and girls cross country teams ran hard against excellent competition Monday night, Sept. 19.   Coach Nick DiMarco noted that nearly all returning Lion runners improved their times compared to last year’s Humboldt race.   

The Lions finished fifth among 20 teams in the boys race; they were seventh in the girls’ competition.
