Dann Douglas Hyde, 65, passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home, in Spencer, Iowa, on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016.

Graveside services were held on Friday, Sept. 23, at the Ventura Cemetery, Ventura, Iowa, with Pastor Lee Laaveg officiating.

(Above) New look on Main Ave., 1966 - Clear Lake’s Main Ave. got a new look in 1966.  A brand-new asphalt surface, one-way traffic on two blocks, and free diagonal parking created a more favorable effect.  Shoppers reported to like the new format.

It was a good week for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team, as they picked up a win against Eagle Grove and placed second in a tournament on Saturday.

GHV X-C boys win another title

It was another successful night for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura cross country, with the boys team winning by a landslide and the girls placing ninth at the Humboldt Meet held on Monday, Sept. 20.

The boys dominated the 20-team field with 54 points.  Humboldt was second with 98, followed by Mason City with 100 and Fort Dodge with 125 points.  Clear Lake was fifth with 126 points.

Ada M. Hill

Ada Mae Hill, 75, of Clear Lake, died Friday, Sept. 16, 2016, at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit- Hospice of North Iowa, in Mason City, Iowa, surrounded by her family.

A graveside service was held on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at the Clear Lake Cemetery.  A gathering for Ada and her son, Tim, was held at Ward-Van-Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, following the graveside service.
