Barry Dean Ewoldt

Barry Dean Ewoldt, 55, of Traer, Iowa, died on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo, Iowa, following a long battle with Peritoneal Mesothelioma.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Prairie Lakes Church, Cedar Falls, Iowa.  A private family burial will be held at Buckingham Cemetery, Traer, at a later date.

CL runners earn post season honors

A very successful cross country season for Clear Lake High School athletes has concluded with some well-deserved honors.

Sophomore Gretchen Jones, who competed at State again this year and finished 47th in Class 2A, has been named to All-North Central Conference as well as All-District teams.

Eric Faught and Sam Pedelty earned both All-Conference and All-District honors.

Ryan Faught was an All-NCC team member who also competed as a member of the West Team in the Senior All Star meet held Saturday.

Three members of the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team earned recognition from the Top of Iowa Conference - West.  Mackenzie Van Gerpen and Hannah Lau, both juniors, were named to the Second Team, while Carlie Knutson, also a junior, earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Lau dominated at the net, with 212 kills on the season and 33 blocks.  She also led the team in defense with 115 digs and had 18 ace serves.
