Oak Hills hold Junior Open Golf Tournament

 Oak Hills Golf Course, Clear Lake, held a Junior Open Golf Tournament on Tuesday, Aug. 12. Thirty young golfers participated in the nine hole event.

Cards fall in opening round of Districts

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura baseball team went 1-3 for the week, moving their record to 8-19 as they headed into District play.

GHV 2, Osage 1
 GHV hosted a doubleheader on Monday, July 7, with visiting teams Forest City and Osage. Forest City topped the Cardinals, 7-2, but GHV picked up a 2-1 win over Osage.

Another solid week of play for the Lion baseball team

 The third ranked (3A) Lions are expected to move up in the rankings this week. The defending State champs are 5-0 in the North Central Conference and 14-2 overall following another solid week of play.

Tough start to the season for the Cardinals

It was a rough start to the season for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura baseball team. The Cardinals opened the season with four losses before picking up a win.

Two more shut-outs for CL boys soccer team

More games, more shut outs for the Clear Lake boys soccer team.  The Lions blanked Humboldt and Webster City during the past week, stretching their defensive perfection to 10 games this season.

The Lions made the most of Senior and Parents Night Thursday, topping Humboldt 3-0.

Bieber wins the long jump at home meet

A first place finish in the long jump highlighted the Clear Lake girls’ performance at the Jim Ahrens Relays held Thursday, May 8, in Clear Lake. Bieber jumped 13’ 8” to win the event.

CL boys golf team still in hunt for NCC title

Clear Lake’s Dane Waldron earned medalist honors in a North Central Conference triangular played Tuesday, April 22, at Veterans Memorial, however Webster City edged the Lions by a stroke for the win.

Clear Lake girls tennis team picks up two more wins

The Clear Lake girls tennis team notched two more victories las week, improving their record to 3-1.

CL 5, Osage 4

The Lions recorded a tight 5-4 victory over Osage in a match played Tuesday, April 15, in 38-degree weather.  Due to the cold the teams agreed to play eight game pro-sets with no advantage.

Clear Lake dropped its first four singles matches but got on track with wins in the number five and six singles positions by Kirsten Jordan and Hailey Grell. 

Colon finishes third at NCAA National Tournament

University of Northern Iowa wrestler Joe Colon earned an All-American title with a third place finish at the NCAA National Tournament held in Oklahoma City over the weekend.  Colon, who wrestles at 133 pounds for the Panthers, was a former Clear Lake High School standout.
UNI had three wrestlers earn All-American status, which is the first time since 2002.

Six Lions help team finish fourth at State

Two Clear Lake wrestlers advanced to the State Wrestling Championship round and all six qualifiers scored points, helping the Lions to a fourth place team finish Saturday in Des Moines.
