Girls tennis team tops St. Ed’s in season opener

The Clear Lake girls tennis team opened the season with an 8-1 victory over St. Ed’s on April 2.

With the exception of a very close number one singles match, in which Lindsey 

Loudenburg was defeated, 11-10, by 2014 state qualifier Lily Peterson, the Lions dominated.

Grace under pressure lifts CL girls over Hampton-Dumont in Regional final

The Clear Lake girls basketball team is headed back to the state tournament.   The 13th-ranked Lions used a 20-7 advantage in the third quarter to open up the game and never looked back in a 59-47 win over North Central Conference rival and eighth-ranked Hampton-Dumont in a Class 3A Regional final played in Mason City Saturday night.

Three more wins under Clear Lake’s belt

The Clear Lake boys notched three solid victories in the past week, improving to 11-5 overall and 9-1 in the North Central Conference.  CL 76, IF-A 28

Clear Lake manhandled NCC cellar-dweller Iowa Falls-Alden (1-15, 0-11) Tuesday, Jan. 27.  The Lions rolled, 76-28.

Cardinals split a pair of games

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys split a pair of games last week to move their record to 9-3, 10-3.

GHV 59, Newman 50

The Cardinals traveled to Newman on Tuesday night, Jan. 13, and came away with a win against the Knights (4-6, 5-6).

The baskets were falling in the first quarter, with the Cardinals managing to pick up a three-point lead at the end of the first quarter, 17-14.

Cardinals pick up two more wins

 

It was a good week for the Garner-Hayfield/Ventura boys, as they picked up two big wins moving their record to 4-2 in the North Iowa Conference and 5-2 overall.

 

GHV 76, Central Springs 51

The GHV boys picked up a 25-point victory over Central Springs on the road Friday, Dec. 19.  

Four Lions earn INA All-State recognition

Four members of Clear Lake’s outstanding 2014 football team were named to All-State football teams released by the Iowa Newspaper Association Tuesday, Nov. 25. 

Indians stop Lions in Regional play

The Clear Lake volleyball team had momentum on its side when it began post-season play Monday, Oct. 27.  However a fired-up Forest City team kept the Lions down and advanced in Regional volleyball action, 3-0.   Clear Lake, which had won half of its last six matches, finished the season 7-25.

Cardinals out hustled, 55-21

The Garner-Hayfield/Ventura Cardinals (2-5, 1-3), were brought to their knees Friday night by the Estherville  Lincoln Central Midgets (3-4, 2-3) in a 55-21 decision.
