At 22, Chris Barragy has already achieved something many avid bowlers never get to experience-- perfection.

The Clear Laker recently threw a perfect game while competing in men’s league play at Mystic Lanes in Mason City.  

Davidson named to INA All-State team

 

The Iowa Newspaper Association announced its 2013 All-State Boys Basketball teams for Class 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A Tuesday.  Clear Lake’s Spencer Davidson was a Third Team choice.

Basketball teams may enter Pacesetter Iowa Youth State Tournament

 

All Iowa youth basketball teams in grades 5-9 may enter the Pacesetter Iowa Youth Basketball State Tournament playoffs in Cedar Falls or Ankeny on Saturday or Sunday, March 23-24.  Pacesetter state championships are held in Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota. Time to register for CLYAL summer baseball, softball and T-ball programs

Registration day for summer baseball, softball and T-ball programs for the Clear Lake Youth Athletic League will be Saturday, April 13, at Clear Lake City Hall.  Application fees are $40 and due by April 13, for grades k-7 if mailing the form.  Late registrations are $50 if received after the April 13 deadline.

The Iowa Super Pee Wee Wrestling Tournament was held on Saturday, March 2, and on Sunday, March 3, at Young Arena in Waterloo, Iowa.  Clear Lake sent five wrestlers to the event and three brought home a medal.  Kaleb Hambly placed third, while

Condominium project near Central Gardens unveiled

Groundbreaking is anticipated this summer for a 36-unit senior independent living condominium to be constructed in the center of Clear Lake, next to Central Gardens of North Iowa.

Going, going, gone

 

Thirty-five years after it went up as the first fast-food choice in Clear Lake, the McDonald’s retaurant at Highway 18 and Interstate 35 came down Tuesday morning.  A new, larger McDonald’s will be constructed on the site, with opening

That’s what they said about Iowa’s Field of Dreams.  But seven years after nesting poles were readied to attract ospreys, Clear Lake is still waiting to attract its first nesting pair.  

Stillman Wickert

 

Stillman Francis Wickert, age 81, passed away peacefully with his family by his bedside on March 1, 2013.  

A memorial Mass for Stillman will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave. S, Clear Lake, with the Reverend John Gossman as celebrant.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Should friends desire, memorials may be left to Hospice of North Iowa.
