Sterling Lien, 84, of Crawfordsville, Iowa and formerly of Clear Lake, died on Friday, April 22, 2022, at his home.

Military honors were provided by the US Navy on Tuesday, April 26, at the Smith Funeral Home, in Grinnell, Iowa. A memorial gathering was also held.

Memorials may be designated to Poweshiek County Pheasants Forever and mailed in care of the Smith Funeral Home, PO Box 368, Grinnell, Iowa 50112. Memories and condolences may be shared with his family online at www.smithfh.com.

Remember When 4-27-2022

(Above) Fish were biting in 1997 - The word was out in 1997 that the fishing was good on Clear Lake.  As temperatures reached the 70s, the City Beach dock was full of anglers.  Walleye in the 14-inch range (legal to keep) were common catches.

Remember When 4-27-2022

(Above) Fish were biting in 1997 - The word was out in 1997 that the fishing was good on Clear Lake.  As temperatures reached the 70s, the City Beach dock was full of anglers.  Walleye in the 14-inch range (legal to keep) were common catches.

CL girls golf gets in the swing

The Clear Lake Girls golf team had four meets during the past week— two nine-hole meets and two 18-hole tournaments.

CL 173, Webster City 228

The team had its second meet of the year Tuesday, April 19, against Webster City. The Lions won the North Central Conference dual by a score of 173-228.

“It was a bitterly cold night and play was a little slow, but we came out on top and scored well for the conditions,” said Coach Colby Andrews.
