Here’s a newspaper recycling story of a different sort.  

In preparation for Earth Day coverage, one of our own— Mirror-Reporter Administrative Assistant Lisa (Jacobson) Riggin, shared her memories of celebrating Earth Day as a Clear Lake eighth grader.

Troy M. Harringa

Troy Michael Harringa, 55, of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., passed away April 9, 2022, at NC Little Hospice in Edina, Minn. He was born April 12, 1966, in Mason City, Iowa.  

Visitation was April 16, with a Celebration of Life service following at Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel, Mason City.  A luncheon followed the service at the funeral home.

The family had requested that everyone dress casually.

Michael J. Grandon, 79, formerly of Clear Lake, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, April 17, 2022, at Eagan Pointe Senior Living, Eagan, Minn. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 23, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave., Clear Lake. Burial will take place in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 22, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake.

The Western Home has abandoned its plans to build a retirement complex at the former Clear Lake United Methodist Camp in favor of selling the entire seven acre camp to Joe Minard and Kevan Cortright, developers.  Cortright said no specific plans have been developed for the area, but a condominium development, with units in the $200,000 range, appears likely.
