Brita Hand to lead Briar Cliff women to NAIA National Tournament

For the first time since 2016, the Briar Cliff women’s basketball team will take the floor in the 2022 National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championship Opening Round.  The Chargers earned an at-large bid and are the number three seed in the Wichita, Kan. opening round bracket. They will face the number two seed Mid-America Christian in the first round on March 11 at 2 p.m at the Garvey Center.

Clear Lake falls to Decorah in Sub-State Final

CL girls named to All-Conference teams

Clear Lake’s Jaden Ainley and Emily Theiss have been named as unanimous All-North Central Conference First Team players.  The senior standouts led the Lions to a perfect 14-0 record in the conference.  The team ranked first in offense with an average of 59 points per game. They were also tops in defense, holding their opponents to an average of 27 points, giving them an average margin of victory of 32 points.

Progress at the Wellness Center

Turf arrived last week for the fieldhouse portion of the new Clear Lake Athletics & Wellness Center.  Crews are in the process of painting lines on the multi-purpose courts and are nearing total facility completion. Locker rooms, fitness floor, suspended walking track and group exercise classes are open for operation.  An open house event is in the planning stages for March, according to Executive Director Adam Long. -Reporter photo by Chris Barragy.
