Currier earns second NCC title; Hambly finishes as runner-up

Clear Lake’s Max Currier earned his second North Central Conference title and Kaleb Hambly finished as runner-up Saturday in Fort Dodge.  

The Lions placed sixth as a team.

The Lions have been clawing their way up the NCC standings.   Wins over Algona St. Ed’s and undefeated Humboldt moved the Lions into sole possession of third place in the league with a 5-3 record. They are 9-3 overall.  Clarion-Goldfield-Dows and Humboldt are both 7-1 in the league and 12-1 overall.

They say an act of kindness, no matter how small, can go a long way.  

Jude Nicholson is too young to know how many smiles he has inspired, but it’s probably hundreds daily.

Clear Lake convenience store robbed

Clear Lake police are investigating the Sunday morning robbery of Casey’s General Store at 202 US Highway 18 East.

According to Police Chief Pete Roth, authorities were alerted to the crime shortly after 8:37 a.m. Sunday morning.  Upon arrival, store employees told officers that an unknown male entered the business and demanded money from the clerk. The male then grabbed the cash register and fled on foot from the scene.

City Council pursues bond sale to fund new park

The Clear Lake City Council has approved $1.3 million in bond issue funding for a new city park on South 15th Street.

At its Jan. 17 meeting the Council approved an agreement with Northland Securities to serve as the placement agent for its bond sale.
