Donna Rae Simpson, 78, peacefully passed away on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2021, at Sheffield Care Center. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, at Ward-Van-Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave North, Clear Lake.

Visitation will be one hour prior at the funeral home. 

Deborah L. Nelson

Deborah Lynn Nelson, 67, of Mason City, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, at her home.

Per Deborah’s wishes, her body has been cremated and no services are scheduled at this time.

Deborah was born May 26, 1954, the daughter of Darwin and Margie (Pals) Nelson, in Mason City. She grew up and attended school in Clear Lake and Mason City.

Clear Lake Mayor Nelson Crabb and Second Ward Councilman Bennett Smith became the latest to confirm their candidacy, joining At-large Council representative Dana Brant, who previously announced he would be on the Nov. 2 ballot.

Bicyclist dies in vehicle crash

A Clear Lake man was killed Wednesday afternoon when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a pickup truck.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, 58-year-old Robin D. Faught was riding a bike southbound on Grouse Avenue, just south of Clear Lake city limits, when he was struck by a vehicle driven by 94-year-old Carroll Etchen, of Clear Lake.

When the Clear Lake football team kicks off the season Friday night, you can bet Bob Fisher will be there.  As the voice of the Lions for the past 26 years on KRIB (AM 1490), Fisher has become synonymous with Clear Lake High School sports.
