Kids “dig” school in 1996 - Central School ExCEL students would have fit right in with Indiana Jones in 1996, as they conducted an archeological dig at the school district’s Outdoor Classroom.  Groups of students created a “culture” and then buried artifacts from the culture at the Outdoor Classroom.  Other students then participated in a “dig” to unearth the treasures and study the culture.  Here, sixth graders (front L-R): Angie Ott, Alex Wieck

Helga Ann Borgman, 84, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021, under the care of MercyOne North Iowa Hospice at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. She died peacefully with her husband at her side.

A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at First Congregational Church, 923 Buddy Holly Pl., Clear Lake, with Rev. Harlan Seri officiating.

Visitation for friends and family will be held from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 2,  at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake.

Helga Ann Borgman, 84, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021, under the care of MercyOne North Iowa Hospice at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. She died peacefully with her husband at her side.

Kimberly Kay Johnson, Mason City, passed away Monday, Aug. 23, 2021.  

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 3, at the Clear Lake VFW.  Interment will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Nancy Schroeder and a charity will be established at a later date.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1001 9th Ave. S., Clear Lake with Rev. Josh Link officiating. Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Clear Lake Church of Christ, with Rev. Dan Miller officiating. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery, in Thornton, with military honors provided.

  Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.

Mark Darwin Grattidge, 69, of Clear Lake, died Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2021, at his home.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Aug. 27, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with Mark Doebel officiating. Burial was at Clear Lake Cemetery, where military honors were provided by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868 Honor Guard.

  In lieu of customary remembrances, family suggests memorial contributions to the Humane Society of North Iowa.
