Marietta Muchow

Marietta Muchow passed away in Broken Arrow, Okla. on Oct. 6, 2020, due to the complications of COVID-19.  

The family is planning a memorial service at the Postville Cemetery on Sept. 5, at 1:30 p.m.

Lions go 5-2 during busy week of ball

The baseball season moved into high gear last week, with varsity games being played daily.  The Lions went 5-2 in the busy stretch, which included weekend games played in Council Bluffs.

It was a rough week for the Clear Lake softball team.  The Lions went 0-4, dropping three North Central Conference games— two to Algona, and taking it on the chin from county rival Mason City. The losses dropped Clear Lake to 5-11 overall and 1-7 in the league.

Downtown alley rehab project in the works

The City of Clear Lake plans to further enhance its downtown with a downtown alley reconstruction project which will not only beautify an area, but provide a few more parking spots.

Monday night the Council approved a professional services agreement for design and construction services for the alley north of Main located between N. 4th and 5th Streets.

The Clear Lake Yacht Club is ready to welcome competitors and their crew for the MC Scow National Regatta this week.

“Last year most, if not all of the regattas in the country were shut down.  So people are ready and they want to go— and we’re ready for them,” said Stuart Oltrogge, co-chairman of the June 24-27 event.
