CL case is basis for Supreme Court ruling

The Iowa Supreme Court issued a ruling last week banning police from searching people’s uncollected trash without a warrant.  The decision came as the result of a Clear Lake case in which a police officer searched trash left for collection by a person suspected of dealing drugs.

Clear Lake Classical, a private Christian school located in Clear Lake, has announced the purchase of the former Sunset Elementary School from Waterloo/Cedar Falls developer Dolly James LLC.

Joan Olson, 95, of Clear Lake, died Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 6, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 310 1st Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Rev. Dennis Ganz officiating. Inurnment will be at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Family suggests memorial contributions to MercyOne Hospice.

Kathleen M. “Babe” Peterson, age 68, of Hastings, Minn. died suddenly but peacefully at home on Tuesday afternoon, June 22, 2021.

Funeral services were held on June 28, at Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings, with Pastor Jim Bzoskie officiating.  Interment  followed at Lakeside Cemetery, in Hastings.

Robert S. Swanson, age 76, died on Nov. 16, 2020.  He was born on June 1, 1944, in Mason City, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, from 4-7 p.m., at the VFW, 219 Main Ave., Clear Lake.

He is survived by two children, Philip Swanson, of West Des Moines and Chelsea Swanson, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Robert S. Swanson, age 76, died on Nov. 16, 2020.  He was born on June 1, 1944, in Mason City, Iowa.

Arthur Renberg

Arthur “Art” Renberg passed away on June 15, 2021 at the age of 90 at his home in Henderson, Nev.   His loving heart left a beacon of light for everyone who knew him.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
