Girls soccer team ends season against GHV

The Clear Lake girls closed their season against the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals May 26.  

“We came up short on a game we controlled,” said Coach Greg Jennings.  “It was a tough loss. For my seniors it was the last time they laced up their cleats.  We had lots of opportunities but failed to capitalize on them.”

Leader chosen for new Wellness Center

Adam Long, of Liberty, Mo., has been named executive director of Clear Lake’s new Wellness Center.

The wellness center’s five-member governing board selected Long as the facility’s first executive director in late May after an extensive search and interview process, and he was introduced to the Clear Lake City Council Monday evening during its meeting.

CLFD anniversary showcases then and now

Members of the Clear Lake Fire Department invited the public to help celebrate its 150th anniversary Saturday with an open house at the fire station and museum.  The museum is home to early fire fighting apparatus, including a 1924 Ahrens Fox Fire Engine and early hose cart.  At the fire station, visitors were able to tour, as well as operate some of the high-tech equipment used today in emergency situations.  Pictured, Tucker Finstad (left) and his fat

Successful capital campaign funds Gardens upgrades

Patrons’ generosity in the recently completed Central Gardens’ capital campaign celebrating its 20th anniversary has funded over two dozen different improvement projects and allowed the board to direct $175,000 to the permanent endowment.

Three more businesses approved for downtown program

Three more businesses have been accepted for participation in Clear Lake’s Downtown Retail Business Incubator Program.

White Barn Picket Fence, Nash & Ivy and Charlie’s Soda Fountain were all approved at Monday night’s City Council meeting.  Each of the businesses will be located within the former Corner Drug and Thrifty White location at 2 N. 4th St.  The building is owned by Austin and Jessica Wood, who are also the owners of Charlie’s Soda Fountain.
