Shoreline treks become mission to keep Clear Lake healthy

Dave Holstad says he has always enjoyed exploring the outdoors, first as a North Iowa farm boy, then later as a 35-year member of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Bureau.  Even in retirement, he still makes it a point to get out with his dog and walk.

Passerby helps driver escape

A rollover accident near the intersection of 300th Street and Lark Avenue sent a North Iowa woman to the hospital Monday, April 5.

At 11:39 a.m. the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a rollover accident.  The vehicle was on fire and a subject was trapped inside, a press release from the sheriff’s office stated.

Donna Rench, 61, of Manly was traveling east on 300th Street when her 2005 Ford F-150 entered the north ditch and began to roll.

First Board members named for wellness center; Search on for director

The City has begun advertising for an executive director for the new Wellness Center and has named two of five board members to oversee its operation.

Monday night the Council unanimously approved Carrie Tysdahl as the city’s representative to the Wellness Center Board.  Tysdahl was one of five applicants interviewed for the board position by City Administrator Scott Flory and City Clerk Jennifer Larsen.

All Iowan adults now eligible for COVID-19 vaccine

More Iowans are now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine as the state opens up eligibility to the state’s entire adult population.

Starting Monday, April 5, all Iowans age 16 and up are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine and all Iowans 18 and up are eligible to receive the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Studies have started on younger teens and, if approved for emergency use, high school aged kids may become eligible by the time the next school year starts.
