Three candidates vying for Iowa District 54 House of Representative seat

Voting has started in Iowa and for this year’s general election there will be three candidates vying for the Iowa District 54 State House of Representatives seat. With Representative Linda Upmeyer not seeking re-election there will be no incumbent candidate, leaving Republican Shannon Latham, Democrat Karen Koenig, and Independent candidate Bennett Smith competing to become the district’s new representative in the state house.

James Robert (Jim) Larson, of 4266 South Shore Drive, Clear Lake, died Oct. 7, at Mercy One, in Mason City.

A private family interment service will be held at Riverside Cemetery, in Marshalltown, Iowa. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Clear Lake Art Center.

Russell D. Ewers, 66, of Clear Lake, passed away Monday evening, Oct. 5, 2020 at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa following a cardiac event.

Due to Covid-19, a graveside service for the family was held on Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Mount Vernon Cemetery.

A private family graveside service was held on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Clear Lake Cemetery, with Pastor Al Berge officiating.

Family suggests memorial contributions to MercyOne North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.

The Lions are heading into the playoffs Friday night with confidence, thanks to 56-40 victory over Roland-Story in their final regular season game.  Add to that a rivalry matchup with neighboring Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, and Coach Jared DeVries says his team is fired up and ready for the post-season.

Struggles continue for Clear Lake volleyball team

The Clear Lake volleyball team struggled through the week with a disappointing loss to Webster City followed by a tournament at Mason City where they were unable to win even one set.
