Spirit Lake rattled off 33 second half points and shut out Clear Lake for the first time since 2015 in a 40-0 second round Class 2A play-off game Friday night.

Forest City (21-9) ended the Lions’ volleyball season in three hotly contested sets Wednesday night.  The Indians advanced in Class 3A Regional play Monday night, Oct. 19, by scores of 25-20, 25-15, 25-21.

Cross country girls finish season strong at State qualifier

The Clear Lake girls team finished out it season at the State qualifier. Although no Lions will advance to State, Coach Havens said he was impressed with the way the girls finished out their season.

“We have made so much progress over the course of the season. I am excited with the group of returners we will have next year along with the 8th graders that will be moving up. The future is bright!” said Havens.

Community rallies behind Lake couple battling COVID-19

Craig and Sue LaKose have been on a journey that most of us have been dreading since the pandemic began last spring. They both contracted the virus earlier this fall and have been battling it ever since.

“This has been a crazy ride I wouldn’t wish on anyone,” said Craig, who was released from the hospital on Monday, Oct. 12, after 28 days, 17 of those days on a ventilator.
