Lake man faces life in prison after arrest on sex abuse charges

A Clear Lake man faces life in prison following his arrest for sex abuse and lascivious acts with a child.

On Friday, Feb. 14, at 12:15 p.m., Edric Morris, age 40, was arrested on one count of Sex Abuse in the Third Degree, and one count of Lascivious Acts with a Child. Both charges are Class A felonies since both are second or subsequent violations. 

The charges stem from a complaint received in late January 2020.

Nelson to represent Lions at State Wrestling Meet

Sam Nelson will represent Clear Lake High School at the State Wrestling Meet this week in Des Moines.  Nelson, a junior, battled back from injury this season and claimed second place at Saturday’s District Meet to punch his ticket to state at 126-pounds.

Three other Lions, Max Currier (113), Conner Morey (132) and Dylan Kruckenberg (195) fell just short of qualifying for State.

Lions claim third straight NCC title with win over H-D

A big win over Hampton-Dumont on Tuesday night, Feb. 11, clinched the North Central Conference title for the Clear Lake boys.  This is the third straight conference title for the team, making it the first time in school history that the Lions claimed three in a row.
