New softball and baseball restroom/concession stand is proposed with team rooms.  Bleachers, press box and lights at the softball field are also planned.

Three charged with harboring runaway teen

Three persons have been arrested and charged with Harboring a Runaway in connection to a missing Clear Lake teen.

On Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 18, Eric Jon Anderson, 38, and Leroy David Lomholt, 59, both from Mason City, were charged with the Aggravated Misdemeanor. Anderson and Lomholt were taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail and held on $2,000 bond.

On the court following the win senior Lexi Fasbender (20) and others enthusiastically accepted the State Qualifier banner to bring back to their school.  

The Clear Lake Lions will open State Tournament play Monday, March 2, in an 8:30 p.m. game at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.  More about the win over Okoboji and the upcoming State Tournament appear on pages 4A-5A and 1B.  Go Lions!

Colorful kites brighten winter season

The sky over Clear Lake on Saturday was full of pigs, tropical fish, dragons, cats and horses, and that’s just to name the animals that were flying high in the clear blue sky.  Saturday marked the 19th annual Color The Wind Kite Festival.

(Above) Swamp Party, 1995 - Second graders at Clear Lake’s Lincoln and Sunset Schools in 1995 wrapped up a study unit about dinosaurs by holding a “Swamp Party.  At Sunset (L-R): Andrew Dwyer, Nick Avery, Miquela Bancroft, Shanna Floy, Jeff Vaage and Brooke Eliason displayed their “dioramas,” one of the projects they completed during the unit.  The students also visited the Science Center and Botanical Center, in Des Moines, in conjunction with their studies.

Gary J. Frerichs

Gary J. Frerichs, 86, of Clear Lake, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, surrounded by his family.

Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Mark Doebel officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel.
