Clear Lake wrestlers tuned up for the Sectional Tournament on Saturday with a pair of meets last week. In the first, the Lions manhandled Newman Catholic, 58-15, but were soundly defeated by Lake Mills, 64-10.

The Clear Lake boys made winning look easy last week, as the Lions won all three games they played by more than 20-points. The victories improved the Lions’ record to 14-2 overall and 10-0 in the North Central Conference.  This week the Lions host GHV Thursday, then are back in conference action Friday and Saturday facing Humboldt and Hampton-Dumont in Clear Lake.

Edward H. Burkart

Edward “Ed” Harold Burkart, 81, of Ventura, died Jan. 27, 2020, at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice in Mason City.

Per Ed’s wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church, Clear Lake.

Visitation took place prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of customary remembrances, Irene will pass any gifts given to missions work, that Ed cared deeply about.
