Why should you Caucus?

For more than four decades, presidential candidates have come to Iowa to test the electoral waters. That’s because the Iowa caucuses serve as the first contest in the nation on the road to the White House.

On Feb. 3, Iowans will be the very first citizens to cast a vote in the presidential nominating process.  It has become a crucial test of strength for candidates to do well at the Iowa caucuses. A strong showing helps to build momentum in the states that follow.

Luke Slavens celebrated his 20th birthday on Jan. 21 like most college sophomores.

  The University of Iowa men’s basketball manager went to guard CJ Fredrick’s apartment and watched basketball games with forward Jack Nunge and other managers. All things considered, it was somewhat of a subdued celebration. Especially considering that nine days earlier, Slavens nearly died.

Thompson stepping down as head CL baseball coach

Clear Lake Head Baseball Coach Seth Thompson has announced he is stepping down from the position.

Thompson guided the Lions to the Class 3A State Championship in 2013, as well as the Class 2A titles in 2015 and 2016.  He has been at the Lion helm for 12 seasons, earning State Coach of the Year honors in 2013, 2015 and 2016.  The was a National Coach of the Year finalist in 2016.
