The weather may have been nasty Tuesday, April 9, but the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys didn’t let it hamper their night at the Cadet Relays in Iowa Falls.  The Cardinals finished fourth in the nine-team meet.  The hosting Cadets won the meet with 173 points, followed by West Hancock with 128.5.  GHV ended with 85 points, just three and one-half points behind third place North Butler.

A challenging course and windy conditions made for a tough day for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls golf team when they competed at the Spring Valley Golf Course on Monday, April 8.  Bishop Garrigan won the meet with a 194.  GHV finished with a 253.  North Iowa also competed, but finished with an incomplete score.

A. James “Slim” Bonner, 87, of Clear Lake, died Friday, April 12, 2019, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, at Clear Lake United Methodist Church, 508 2nd Ave. N., Clear Lake, with Pastor David Peterson officiating.  Burial will be at Pleasant Valley Township Cemetery, in Swaledale.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

William H. Drennan

William Hull Drennan, 83, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2019, at home with his family in rural Clear Lake.

Per William’s wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service is pending at this time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the National Kidney Foundation or HealthReach Dialysis, Albert Lea, Minn.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, is in charge of arrangements.
