Clear Lake grapplers go to 2-1 at Dick Kennedy Duals

The Clear Lake Lions competed at the Dick Kennedy Duals at Webster City Saturday.  The Lions had a great day, going 2-1, beating Webster City and Woodward Granger.   The Lions fell to Southeast Polk.

“We had a lot of great matches for our kids,” said Coach Mike Lester.  “A very well balanced team is making us a great dual team.”

Garner-Hayfield-Ventura wrestlers made a good showing at the Nashua-Plainfield Varsity Tournament held Saturday.  The Cardinals finished sixth in the 13-team field with 101-points. West Hancock won the tourney with 196-points, followed by Northwood-Kensett (152.5), N-P (145), Hudson (144) and Monticello (120).

Information on ticket distribution for the 2019 IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament Finals is now available online. Sales for the Feb. 16, 2019 event began on Dec. 4 for member high schools and Dec. 11 for the general public.

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls evened their record at 2-2 last week.  The games included a near-upset of rival West Hancock, followed by a lopsided win over Belmond-Klemme.  The Cards will be looking to add to their win streak with three games this week.

Barbara Jean Kruger, 79, of Clear Lake, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at Good Shepherd Health Center, in Mason City.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 7, at Clear Lake Evangelical Free Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Tom Gerdts officiating.  Burial was at Clear Lake Cemetery.

Judith Jane Hilgendorf, 72, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, at First Congregational Church, 923 Buddy Holly Pl., Clear Lake, with Pastor Harlan Seri officiating.  Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery, in Clear Lake.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec.16, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.
