Judith J. Hilgendorf

Judith Jane Hilgendorf, 72, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, at First Congregational Church, 923 Buddy Holly Pl., Clear Lake, with Pastor Harlan Seri officiating.  Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery, in Clear Lake.

Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec.16, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Judy’s family.

Helen A. Biretz

Helen Ann Biretz, 74, of Fertile, Iowa, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Dec. 14,  at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. John Gossman officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home in Clear Lake.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army of Mason City.

Alice D. Bramley, 59, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Muse Norris Inpatient Unit- Hospice of North Iowa in Mason City.

A celebration of Alice’s life will be held from 1-3 p.m, on Saturday, Dec. 16,  at the V.F.W., 219 Main Ave, Clear Lake.

Alice Dennise Haugen was born on July 17, 1959 to Dale Haugen and Darlene Dodd Butner. She graduated from Manly High School before becoming a mother to two daughters, Geneva and Jessy.

William Leschisin, 84, of Clayton, Iowa passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at his home. He was born Feb. 17, 1934 in Vance Creek, Wis., to John and Katherine (Podany) Leschisin. He was married in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Almena on Sept. 1, 1956, to Jane Blechinger, his dance partner and best friend.

Remember When 12-12-2018

You’d better not cry, 1993Twenty-two month old Jacob Klein was excited about seeing Santa in 1993 - right up until the time his parents put him on the Jolly Old Man’s lap.  Jacob, the son of Teresa and Ernie Klein, preferred to have his parents relay his Christmas wishes.  Jacob was visiting Santa’s house on the first weekend he was at his residence in City Park.

A Lincoln, Neb. man has been named as the new executive director of the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce and the Clear Lake Business and Industrial Development Corporation.  David Collins, 36, will assume the combined position Jan. 3, 1994.

A new taxi service plans to offer Clear Lake residents evening transportation.

Clear Lake Christmas

(Above) MBT featured the Grinch on their winning entry in the Lighted Parade.  Lake Theatre was second and B&B Entertainment was third.

Christmas spirit was shining bright Saturday, as the Christmas by the Lake celebration was held.  Inclement weather forced a one week postponement of the celebration, but it did little to dampen the enthusiasm.
