GHV Cardinals pound Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 36-0

A total team effort helped the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura football team to a shut-out victory against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows (2-6) on Friday, Oct. 12, in Clarion.  The win moved the Cardinal’s record to 3-5.

“We were able to put together four good quarters on both sides of the ball,” said Coach Scott Van Dusseldorp.  “I am so proud of how these young men have continued to improve and battle through this season.”

Clear Lake runners do well at NCC meet

Clear Lake cross country teams competed in the North Central Conference race last week.  The Lion boys ran a strong race and finished second overall to eighth ranked Humboldt.  The Clear Lake girls were fourth overall.

The NCC meet was held in Iowa Falls and was a road race because of wet conditions.

CL volleyball team tops St. Edmond

The Clear Lake volleyball team earned a win over Fort Dodge St. Edmond Thursday, Oct. 11.  The Lions captured the North Central Conference match with scores of 25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 25-21.

“We played very well and were firing on all cylinders. We finally had all areas of our offense and defense clicking,” said Coach Richie Ellis.  “I am very proud of the way these girls have kept their heads high and have kept fighting all season. Very happy to see them get another win.”

Veterans’ Memorial begins to take shape

Workers from Little Falls, Minn. were in Clear Lake Wednesday to begin hanging six large pieces of black granite on the exterior of V.F.W. Post 4868 on Main Avenue.  The granite slabs will soon be etched with the names of veterans submitted to the V.F.W. for inclusion.  V.F.W.
