Clear Lake X-C teams compete at Dick Bell Invitational

Clear Lake cross country teams competed at the Dick Bell Invitational on Oct. 2 in Eagle Grove. Nearly all Lion runners ran their personal best times of the year at the event.

The boys had five runners come in under 19-minutes for the first time all year.

“We will need all of our varsity runners to be in the mid-18s or below to contend for a conference title,” said Coach Nick DiMarco, pointing to this week’s North Central Conference meet.

CL girls drop three with losses to St. Ansgar, Humboldt and Osage

The Clear Lake volleyball team slipped to 3-21 over the weekend with losses to St. Ansgar, Humboldt and Osage on Saturday. Each match had 0-2 scores.

The Lions never really got on track and fell 21-12, 21-14 to the Saints. Against Humboldt the scores were 21-10 and 21-14. Osage was a 21-11, 21-14 winner.

Two losses move GHV volleyball team’s record to 3-12

It was a tough week for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team, as they dropped matches to North Union and Rockford. The losses moved the Cardinals record to 3-16.

North Union 3, GHV 1

The Cardinals traveled to North Union on Tuesday, Oct. 2. Although the two teams had similar records, with North Union having a record of 7-20 and GHV 6-13, it was the Wildcats that came out the victors.

“We ran real well on a very hard course and had several personal records, which is great to see at this time of the year,” said Coach Jeff Short.
