The highway sign directing spectators to Lions Field is finished.  The old one was taken down a few years ago and has been replaced with this new version.  The sign recognizes State Championships won by the football and baseball teams who play at Lions Field Complex.  The original sign was put up when the football team won the 2000 State Championship.  It was taken down when baseball won its first State title i

Clear Lake’s Jackson Hamlin and Zach Lester, both seniors, have been named to the All-North Central Conference Baseball First Team.  Hamlin was honored as a pitcher, while Lester was the choice as a First Team catcher.  In All-District voting days later, Lester was named to the First Team, while Hamlin was selected as a Second Team utility player.

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura baseball team was well represented on the 2018 Top of Iowa All-Conference Baseball Teams.  The Cardinals had seven players named to special teams.

Landon Dalbeck and Ryan Meyers were named to the First Team.  Second Team members included Colton Schroeder and Anthony Sherwood.  Brady Hess and Jared Shaw were named to the Third Team and Cade Bamrick earned Honorable Mention recognition.

Vickie Lee Allen, 65, of Clear Lake, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018, at her home surrounded by family.

Per Vickie’s wishes, her body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Vickie was born Aug. 25, 1952, the daughter of Eugene Arle and Jean Frances (Mitchell) Allen, in Fort Dodge.  She later grew up and attended school in Clear Lake.
