A week of ups and downs for Cardinals

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura baseball team had a week of ups and downs.  After falling to Forest City early in the week, they rebounded to claim an extra innings victory over Belmond-Klemme.  The team’s record now stands at 2-4.

It was a battle from the beginning to the end for the Cardinals on Wednesday, May 30, when they fell to a talented Forest City team, 8-1.

Soccer season ends for CL boys

The Clear Lake boys soccer team used the post-season to avenge a regular season loss, but saw their campaign come to an end Wednesday, May 23, against the favored Sailors of Waterloo Columbus.  The Lions ended the season with an overall record of 7-10 and, according to their coaches, can look with pride at what they accomplished and the strong foundation they set for next year.

Theiss named Clear Lake’s July 4 parade Grand Marshal

The Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July Committee has announced that David Theiss has been selected as its Fourth of July Parade Grand Marshal.

Theiss, who has been a Clear Lake businessman for 45 years and lent his support and talents to schools, veterans programs, the Chamber and economic development efforts, said he was “overwhelmed” to be asked to preside at the uniquely Clear Lake summer celebration.

Soccer girls wrap up regular season

The Clear Lake girls soccer team wrapped up the regular season by playing four games in seven days.  The Lions, now 6-5, will host Garner-Hayfield-Ventura for the first round of post-season playoffs Tuesday, May 29.
