The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys gave it their all, but were unable to make the State Tournament, after Aplington-Parkersburg defeated them in the Class 2A Substate Final Monday night.

Remember When 2-18-2018

(Above) Old timersWilliam McGowan and son, Bill, pose in front of the McGowan Hardware, where Wilcox Furniture Store is now located.  The McGowans were among the first people to come to Clear Lake.  The family was in the hardware business here for 53 years.  Easily recognized in the picture are objects used in 1903.  In the windows stand rolls of figured linoleum and coal stoves.

After nearly 35 years of ownership, Mike Finnegan has sold the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter to Mid-America Publishing Corporation, of Hampton, Iowa, effective March 1, 2018.

The Mirror-Reporter will be added to the Hampton-based corporation’s growing roster of 30 Iowa weekly newspapers and shoppers.
