Former City Council representatives appointed Sanitary District trustees

The Clear Lake Sanitary District Board of Trustees is back at full strength, following the appointment of two trustees.

In January, former Clear Lake At-Large Councilman Gary Hugi was named to replace John Miller, who stepped down from his service as a trustee in December 2017.  Miller had served consecutive terms as a district trustee since first being elected in 1976.

James Merfeld

James Merfeld, 68, of Clear Lake, passed from this world on Thursday, March 1, 2018, surrounded by his family in Clear Lake, after a long bout with lymphoma.  Due to his determination and positive attitude, Jim was a participant in multiple clinical, medical trials to help others by advancing the medical knowledge obtained in cancer research.

A memorial visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

David R. Rickard

David R. Rickard, 54, of Clear Lake, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at home in Clear Lake.

  Per his wishes he has been cremated.

The family suggests memorial contributions may be directed to the family and a charity of their choice will be established at a later date.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
