Faught earns 100th win as Lions top Spencer

Revenge was sweet for the Lions.  The team headed into the Christmas break with a 49-23 victory over Spencer Tuesday, Dec. 19.

Last year Spencer toppled the Lions, 34-34, winning on criteria.  Coach Mike Lester said that memory was still fresh in his mind, along with many of the Lion grapplers.

Two big wins right before the  holiday break moved Garner-Hayfield-Ventura’s record to 5-2, 7-3.

The Cardinals put together one of their best all-around games of the season when they topped Eagle Grove (4-2, 6-2) in Top of Iowa Conference action on Tuesday, Dec. 19.

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura girls headed into the holiday break on an upswing, picking up two victories to move their record to 3-4, 5-6.

Defense was the name of the game Tuesday night, Dec. 19, when the GHV girls held Eagle Grove to 20 percent shooting from the field on their way to a Top of Iowa Conference victory.

GHV wrestlers compete at Iowa Falls

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura wrestling team competed in a dual on Thursday, Dec. 21, against Iowa Falls-Alden and Rockford, at Iowa Falls.

The Cardinals fell to Iowa Falls-Alden, 58-24.  Five forfeits by GHV didn’t help its cause, but the team did have some highlights.
