Douglas James Southwick, 59, of Clear Lake, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at his home.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.  Inurnment will be at a later date.

  Family suggests memorial contributions to the Douglas J. Southwick Memorial Fund.

Three Lions earn INA All-State selections

The Iowa Newspaper Association announced its 2017 All-State Football selections Tuesday.  Selections were made by 105 Iowa Newspaper Association members.

Three members of the Clear Lake Lions were named to the Class 2A All-State Second Team.  Zach Lester was selected as a tight end/wide receiver; senior Joey Monson was honored as a defensive linebacker; Jared Penning, a junior, was picked as an offensive lineman;

Awards given at Clear Lake Football Banquet

The Clear Lake football program capped its season with a banquet.  Head Coach Jared DeVries said educator, coach and public speaker Aaron Thomas, from Parkersburg, Iowa capped it off with a tremendous message for his players— take advantage of opportunities and use your platform when it presents itself.  Team awards for the 2017 season were presented.
