Activity on Clear Lake has increased ever since the lake was declared “iced-in” Thursday, Dec. 7.

Local police report holiday scams

It’s the season of giving— and unfortunately, taking.

Clear Lake police report approximately 25 scams have surfaced since Oct. 1.  Most have been unsuccessful, however, a few have resulted in stolen personal information or money.

Christmas spirit has filled the Clear Lake Mirror-Reporter office.  Over the last few weeks approximately 190 gifts have left the newspaper office, thanks to the generosity of many.

Council passes ordinance allowing UTVs on city streets

Utility vehicles are now allowed on Clear Lake city streets.

Monday night the Clear Lake City Council passed an ordinance similar to the golf cart ordinance it approved last summer.  City Administrator Scott Flory said the golf cart initiative was well received by the public and the local police department reported there were no issues related to public safety as a result of the measure.
