Share Life provides Giving Tree donations non-profit status

  For more than a quarter of a century, the Giving Tree has helped to make the holidays a little brighter for Clear Lake area families.  This year, thanks to Share Life, donations of cash and food cards for Giving Tree families are tax-deductible.

The 2017 Giving Tree features approximately 180 ornaments representing the wishes of local children from 61 families.

City approves addition of merit-based pay for administrator

The Clear Lake City Council has unanimously approved a resolution establishing supplemental and merit based pay compensation for its city administrator.

Mayor Nelson Crabb explained that City Administrator Scott Flory’s salary has traditionally been based off of the cost of living increase that city employees receive.

“That’s all well and good, but we felt we needed a more performance based evaluation,” said Crabb.

10-4 Good Buddy! Sukup will serve Thanksgiving meal for truckers in Clear Lake

This Thanksgiving, Sukup Manufacturing Co. will contribute to a meal for truck drivers who are working on Thanksgiving Day. “A Trucker’s Thanksgiving” will be held, free of charge, at the Pilot Travel Center in Clear Lake. The center anticipates nearly 60 truck drivers will enjoy a buffet meal with turkey, ham, and traditional Thanksgiving side dishes. Two local Perkins restaurants will donate pie for the meal.
