Iowa Falls-Alden (28-5, 7-0) showed why they are the North Central Conference champion.  The Cadets swept the Clear Lake girls 25-18, 25-25, 26-16, Thursday, Oct. 12.

CL boys capture NCC X-C title

Clear Lake’s varsity boys were able to hold off a hard charging Humboldt team to place first in  the North Central Conference Championship held at Algona Tuesday, Oct. 10.  The top three teams were: Clear Lake with 38 points, Humboldt with 40 points and Webster City with 89 points.

A tough run defense was too much for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura Cardinals (4-4, 3-3) to overcome, as they dropped a 28-10 decision to the New Hampton Chickasaws (6-2, 5-1) in district action Friday night.

It was a tough week for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team, as they dropped three games, but rallied to pick up one win at a tournament held on Saturday.

It was quite the week for both the boys and girls Garner-Hayfield-Ventura cross country teams.  The boys won the Top of Iowa East Division Conference meet, with a one-two finish by Reece Smith and Ray Cataldo.  Although the girls team didn’t place high, GHV’s Abby Christians won her first race of the season.  The teams also ran at the Forest City Meet, where the boys placed second and the girls took fifth place.
