The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura volleyball team had two girls earn post season honors by being named to the Top of Iowa West Division All-Conference Teams.  Seniors Jacki Van Oort and Taylor Gerdes were both named to the Second Team.

Are you in the holiday spirit yet?

One of the community’s most recognizable symbols of the season is ready.  The 28th annual Giving Tree is now on display in the Mirror-Reporter office at 12 N. 4th St.

For a quarter of a century, the Giving Tree has helped to make the holidays a little brighter for Clear Lake area families.

Sign-up forms for the Giving Tree were distributed in the Clear Lake School District and sent home with those attending Head Start and Lake Town Charlie Brown.

Mueller earns All-NCC recognition

Clear Lake senior Chloe Mueller has received All-North Central Conference volleyball honors.  Mueller was named to the All-NCC Third Team for her play as a libero.

Mueller ranked ninth in the league in digs, averaging 3.83 per outing.  She recorded 92 digs in 24 sets played.  Mueller was also 13th in serving, putting in 58 of 60 serve attempts for a .967 serving efficiency percentage.

William J. Neuberger

William “Bill” J. Neuberger, Jr., 81, a lifelong Klemme area resident and farmer, died, Sunday, Nov. 5, 2017, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient, Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at the Klemme United Methodist Church.  The Rev. Wayne Bruggeman officiated. Burial was in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Douglas Dean Salmon, age 77, of Appleton, Wis., died peacefully with his family by his side in the early morning hours on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, following a lengthy struggle with Parkinson’s and Lewy body disease.

William Short

  William G. “Bill” Short, 83, of Garner, Iowa, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017 at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa.

  Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Faith Lutheran Church, in Miller, Iowa, with Rose Visser, lay minister officiating.  Inurnment will be at Ellington Township Cemetery with military rites by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit.
