Ben Smith, Bennett Smith join Tony Nelson in Ward 2 race

The names of three candidates for the Clear Lake City Council Ward 2 seat will appear on the November ballot, including two similar names.

Candidate Bennett Smith submitted a formal challenge last week to the listing of a challenger’s name, “Ben Smith,” General Election ballot.

Orville H. Muth, 88, of Story City, Iowa, and formerly of Clear Lake, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at Bethany Manor, in Story City.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue, Mason City, Iowa, with Rev. Kathleen R. Moore of the First United Methodist Church officiating.  A private family inurnment took place at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Orville H. Muth, 88, of Story City, Iowa, and formerly of Clear Lake, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at Bethany Manor, in Story City.

Raymond Harold Cooper, 89, of Clear Lake, died Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at Concord Care Center, in Garner, Iowa.

A family funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with Dennis Ganz officiating.  Burial will be in Mount Vernon Township Cemetery, south of Clear Lake.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
