Clear Lake and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura varsity runners competed at the Roy Griak Meet held in Minneapolis, Minn. Saturday, Sept. 23.

“The Roy Griak cross country meet is one of the biggest races in the country,” said Lions Coach Nick DiMarco.  “It is held at the University of Minnesota golf course in St. Paul and draws the top college and high school teams in the nation.”

CL X-C teams compete at Humboldt; Pedelty picks up another win

Humboldt edged the Clear Lake boys in an exciting matchup of North Central Conference teams competing at the Humboldt High School cross country meet Monday, Sept. 18.  The Wildcats won with 46 points, while the Lions finished with 59.  Kuemper Catholic was third with 130 and another NCC team, Algona, was fourth with 136.

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura boys and girls cross country team met some tough competition at a big meet held in Humboldt on Monday night, Sept. 18.

The boys finished in 12th place out of 16 teams with 293 points.  Humboldt won the meet with a score of 46, followed closely by Clear Lake with 59 points.

Dorothy Ione Dietrich, 94, of Clear Lake, passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at Muse-Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, in Mason City, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, 112 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating.  Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.
