Clear Lake softball team in some close games

Clear Lake’s softball team had a busy third week, playing four games and one tournament. With some close games, the Lions’ coach, Austin Peterson, hopes to get ahead of the competition earlier in the future.

GHV girls hoping to turn season around

The Garner-Hayfield-Ventura softball team is looking to turn their season around after recording four losses in action last week.

Eagle Grove 18, GHV 7

The Cardinals saw the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in an 18-7 loss to Eagle Grove on Monday, June 5.

GHV’s bats were as hot as the Eagles, as the Cards collected 13 hits to the Eagles’ 15 in the slug fest.

Clear Lake hosts triathlon

The first TRI Clear Lake sprint triathlon took place in Clear Lake on Saturday, June 10.  The windy weather didn’t deter the participants who completed a 750 meter swim, a 12.4 mile bike course and finished with a 3.1 mile run. A piece of CL history returns with Kopecky donation

Opportunity Village to announce name change

  On June 20, Clear Lake-based nonprofit organization Opportunity Village will begin a new chapter in its history.

  A celebration will be held in Mason City and Fort Dodge on that day to commemorate the launch of the organization’s new name. Celebrations will begin at 4:30 p.m. at the North Iowa Events Center’s Kinney Building, in Mason City, and at the Best Western Starlite Village, in Fort Dodge.

  The organization’s new name will be announced at both events.
