Lions face tough opponent in GHV Cardinals

The Clear Lake Lions faced a tough opponent on the road when they took on Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Monday night, Jan. 3.

Lions now ranked 7th in Class 3A

The Clear Lake girls continued to build their resume with two more wins last week.  The Lions, now ranked seventh in Class 3A, lead the North Central Conference wit a 5-0 record; they are 10-1 overall.

It was a big week for the Garner-Hayfield-Ventura grapplers, as they returned from winter break to compete in two meets and one tournament.

The Cardinals traveled to Rockford on Tuesday, Jan. 3, where they faced Iowa Falls-Alden, Central Elkader and Rockford.  GHV topped Rockford, 45-35, and Central Elkader, 60-12, but lost to Iowa Falls-Alden, 49-31.

A slow first quarter doomed the Cardinal girls on Friday, Jan. 6, on the road against undefeated North Union (7-0, 10-0).

GHV got behind 12-2 early in the first quarter and ended the period trailing, 14-6.
