Lions drop a heartbreaker to Forest City

The Clear Lake boys squelched a four game losing streak with an exciting win over St. Ed’s Friday, but their roller-coaster season continued the following day with a two-point loss to Forest City, dropped them to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in the North Central Conference.

After what Coach Jeremey Ainley called his teams’ worst defensive effort of the year, the Lions came back on Friday night with their best defensive effort and picked up a 55-53 North Central Conference victory over St. Ed’s (4-5, 3-2).

Garrett R. Carlson

Garrett Rodney Carlson, 26, of Northwood, Iowa, died Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at his home from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy surrounded by his family.

A funeral service for Garrett was held on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 North 9th Street, Northwood, with the Reverend Ed Bard officiating.  Burial was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.

Margery Theiss

Margery Theiss, 94, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

Per Marge’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be tentatively held on May 12, at the Clear Lake V.F.W.

Margery Carolyn (Ramspott) Theiss was born in St. Louis, Mo. on Oct. 4, 1922, to Clarence John and Eunice (Mehl) Ramspott.

Margery graduated from Normandy High School, in St. Louis, in 1939 and graduated from Harris Teachers College, also in St. Louis, in 1944.

Margery “Marge” Theiss, 94, of Clear Lake, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

Per Marge’s wishes, her body has been cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, was in charge of arrangements.
