Sally L. Kennedy, 86, of Clear Lake, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at the Crestview Nursing and Rehabilitation, Webster City, Iowa.

Celebration of Sally’s life was held on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating of Zion Lutheran Church, Clear Lake.  Burial was in Clear Lake Cemetery.

Neil Luverne Ouverson, 67, of Hanlontown, Iowa, passed away after a short courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, Oct. 30, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at Mercy Medical Center, in Des Moines, Iowa.

A funeral service was held on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016, at Fertile Church of Christ, Fertile, Iowa, with Pastor Rob Perry officiating.  Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Mason City.

Clear Lake Bank & Trust has announced its plans to expand its Main Avenue Clear Lake location.

Bank President and CEO Mark Hewitt said plans are still in the development stage for the building project, but after much consideration and study it has been determined the growth will take place on the west side of the existing building.

Youth for Christ movement comes to Clear Lake

The Youth for Christ movement in North Iowa will soon have an active Clear Lake chapter.

Kevin Hook has been named as Clear Lake campus life (middle and high school) director for the organization, which traces its roots to 1944 and Billy Graham.  North Iowa Youth for Christ, based in Mason City, was established in 1987 by a group of parents and church leaders concerned about local teens. Since then, NIYFC has worked with thousands of young people from communities across 10 counties in North Iowa.

Voter turnout was steady Tuesday, as residents headed to the polls in Clear Lake.  Workers at City Hall (right) said the voters seemed to be taking a little more time in the voting process this year.
