Ninth ranked Crestwood (3A) ended the season for the Clear Lake girls in the opening round of softball post-season play Wednesday, July 8.  Crestwood struck early, with eight runs scored in two innings, and went on to a 10-0 shutout.

Cole, 94, of Clear Lake, and formerly of Stanley, Iowa, passed from this earthly life into eternal life on Wednesday, July 8, 2015.  A service to celebrate her life was held on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at the Stanley Union Church.  Interment was in the Stanley Cemetery at Stanley.  For condolences, please visit www.geilenfeldfh.com.

Elizabeth “Liz” Jean Casey, of Willington, Conn., formerly of Santa Clarita, Calif. and Mason City, Iowa, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at the City of Hope Hospital in Duarte, Calif.

A memorial Mass will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 302 Fifth Street S.E., in Mason City, Iowa.

Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be given in her name to Camp Tanglefoot, Newman Catholic Schools, or the American Cancer Society.

Ronald Carl Ashland, age 91, of Blair, Neb. died July 9, 2015, at Memorial Community Hospital, in Blair.  Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, in Blair. Burial will follow services in the Blair Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15, beginning at 4 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. that evening at Campbell Aman Funeral Home, in Blair.
