Stephen R. Barlow

Stephen Ray Barlow, 78, of Mason City, died Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at MercyOne North Iowa Hospice, in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake, with the Rev. Dr. Pat Hall officiating.  Burial will be at Clear Lake Cemetery with military honors provided by the Clear Lake VFW Post 4868 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the funeral home, in Clear Lake.

Marlene E. Bartlett, 85, of Rockwell, died on Sunday, July 14, 2019, at the IOOF Home.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 20, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 419 North Delaware, Mason City.  Interment was at Mt. Vernon Township Cemetery. Summer tradition continues

Clear Lake chosen for computer science grant

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has announced the Clear Lake School District is one of 23 in the state to be awarded a Computer Science Grant.  Due to a state appropriation of $500,000, selected Iowa school districts and schools will be able to bolster their computer science teacher workforce.

Superintendent Doug Gee said the Clear Lake School District will receive just over $20,000 from the program.

Sentencing awaits Clear Lake man found guilty of sexual abuse

A Clear Lake man who originally entered an Alford plea in a sexual abuse case but had that set aside by a district court judge has been convicted of second degree sexual abuse.
