Bicycle, Blues, BBQ & Brews hit the spot

North Iowa Spin, helped by countless volunteers, hosted another successful Bicycle, Blues & BBQ event downtown and around Clear Lake Saturday and Sunday. Rides were competitive, as well as fun, as evidenced by the kids free race.  Congratulations to Clear Lake’s own Tyler Curtis, who won the Men’s Pro 1/2 Criterium State Championship.

City preparing deal for hotel developer

Clear Lake City Administrator Scott Flory outlined a prospective economic development project and a preliminary draft of a Letter of Intent related to a hotel and conference center project at Monday night’s City Council meeting.  It is anticipated the Council will take formal action on the Letter of Intent at its next meeting, scheduled for Aug. 5.

Clear Lake Arts Center will dedicate Sukup Lakeside Courtyard Saturday

The Clear Lake Arts Center (CLAC) is “Celebrating the Arts!” on Saturday, July 20, from 6 – 9 pm.  This year’s event will center around the much anticipated Sukup Lakeside Courtyard dedication.  The CLAC has been working on the completion of the project for the past 10 months. Tickets are $25 each and available from CLAC board members or in person at the guest service desk at the Arts Center.

Clear Lake City Council members have approved a request for a $35,000 contribution to help fund the replacement of the roof of the Surf Ballroom.
