Ruth Ann Lease, 83, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Oakwood Care Center, in Clear Lake.

Per Ruth’s wishes, her body has been donated to the University of Iowa, and a Celebration of Life will be held from 5-7 p.m., Friday, July 19, 2019, at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake.

Family suggests memorial contributions to the Ruth Lease Memorial Fund.

Scorekeepers were kept busy Wednesday night during a high-scoring contest between Clear Lake and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura.  The Lions hosted the first round post-season game and topped GHV, 17-7, to move on.

CL girls fall in second round game to Waterloo Columbus

Clear Lake challenged fifth ranked (3A) Waterloo Columbus Catholic in the second round of post-season play Friday night, but couldn’t come up with timely hits.  Columbus escaped with a 3-0 win.

“I was extremely proud of the way we competed tonight,” said Clear Lake Coach Austin Peterson.  “The girls played against a great team.  We had chances, but couldn’t find the one hit to score a run.”
