Upmeyer will seek re-election to Iowa House

Speaker Linda Upmeyer (R-Clear Lake) has announced her intention to seek re-election to the Iowa House in 2016.  Upmeyer currently represents House District 54, which covers all of Franklin County, as well as portions of Butler and Cerro Gordo counties.

  “It has been an honor to serve the people of Butler, Cerro Gordo, and Franklin counties, and I would be humbled should they choose to send me back to Des Moines to fight for their priorities,” said Upmeyer.

DNR sets public meeting to discuss Clear Lake access

Project planned to better utilize Lekwa Marsh site

The public is invited to provide input to improvements being made at a public access on Clear Lake’s south shore at Lekwa Marsh.

Staff from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will be on site from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, March 14, to answer questions about the work being done and to entertain suggestions from the public on how the shoreline access can best be utilized.

Starr Lang, 60, of Clear Lake, died unexpectedly, Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 at her home.

Huff, 78, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and formerly of Mason City, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 1, 2016, in St. Petersburg.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Mason City, with Pastor Matthew Muters of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church officiating.  Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Major Erickson Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service.  Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.

Starr Lange, 60, Clear Lake, died unexpectedly, Mon., Feb. 29, 2016 at her home.  Services will be 9:30 a.m. Sat., March 12 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Mason City.  Visitation will be Fri., March 11 at the Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, Clear Lake from 5 - 7 p.m. and then one hour before the service on Saturday at the church.  Family suggests memorials to Starr Lang Memorial Fund.
