Lawsuit dismissed against Clear Lake Schools

A civil suit filed by a parent against the Clear Lake School District has been dismissed.

Workers have begun tearing up North Shore Drive as part of the final phase of reconstruction for the road.  Most of the work at present is being done on the west end of the project, from Clark Road east to North Shore Estates.

Tom Jolas, a Mason City attorney, who played a key role in the drive to route Interstate 35 through this area said the big road will be the “greatest thing Clear Lake will see in 50 years.”  Jolas gave his speech to the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce at their annual banquet.

Six candidates will vie for two director posts on the Clear Lake School Board.  Those running include: Lester Godden, Dr. Tom Joslyn, Mrs. Joe Jensen, Bill Eaton, Homer Bienfang and Denzil Hoskins.

When the new teachers come to town, extend the glad hand of fellowship to them and make them feel at home.  Help them in any way and in turn they will be better able to help your children.

Miss Emma Hager, of Sioux City, will be the new school nurse.  This is the first time that a full time nurse has been hired for the school for the full nine months of the year.

On Monday evening during the discharge of fireworks on the lake front, one of the bombs discharged sending sparks flying over the houses near the camp grounds and one of the sparks lighted on the roof of the H.P. Stevens home and set the roof on fire.
